Comprehensive Eye Exams - Adults and Children

Regular eye exams are an invaluable tool in maintaining healthy eyes by detecting and preventing disease in both adults and children. Some diseases develop slowly without causing pain or vision loss. Early detection of any problems can reduce the risk of further harm and allow for a choice of treatment options. Part of your exam includes the following procedures: Slit Lamp Examinations, Dilated Eye Exams, Refraction for Glasses and Contact Lenses and Glaucoma Pressure Testing.

Pediatric Eye Care

We take pride in maintaining the vision of our younger patients in an environment that is lighthearted and fun. We want to insure the good sight, vision, and eye health for the rest of your child's life and take a preventative approach to his/her general health and eye health. We will work with your child's primary care physician to help keep his/her eyes healthy. It is important that all of our pediatric patients have healthy and efficient visual systems to help make the visual demands of learning in school easier.

Contact Lenses Exam and Fittings

Thanks to the advances in optical technology, almost everyone is a candidate for contact lens use. This includes patients with astigmatism and also those who prefer bifocal or multifocal lenses. We offer a comprehensive array of contact lenses to suit each individual patient's needs including daily disposables, extended wear soft lenses and gas permeable contact lenses.

Macular Degeneration Screening

Macular degeneration is a chronic eye disease that can severely impact vision. The most common type is called dry macular degeneration. The less common wet form is more severe and can be very disabling. Today, through early detection and treatment, eye care professionals are better able to manage this disease.

Glaucoma Evaluation and Screening

Glaucoma, the leading cause of blindness and visual impairment in the United States, is an eye disease that can lead to a permanent loss of vision. Glaucoma generally provides no warning signs or symptoms of disease, making testing an important part of a full vision exam.

Optical Department

For those patients needing glasses or contact lenses, we offer a complete optical department. Since your prescription can be filled at the same place it was written, you will not only save time and travel, you will also have the security of knowing the doctor who wrote the prescription is available to answer questions. We carry a wide selection of frames for every budget, including designer, sunglasses and sports.

Eyeglass Repair

We want our customers to enjoy the benefits of clear, crisp vision without the discomfort or inconvenience of worrying about broken eyeglasses or ones that don’t fit as they once did. While our office selects only the highest quality of fashionable and durable eyeglass frames that are precisely fitted with latest in lens technology, your eyeglasses can still become damaged or broken as the result of an accident or everyday wear and tear. Whether a pair of eyeglasses requires a lens replacement, a frame, screw or hinge repair as well as the removal of light scratches, we are well equipped to provide you with the help you need.

Dry Eye Treatment

Suffering from dry eye can be more than just mildly annoying. It is often a chronic condition that can result in significant discomfort and cause visual disturbances that interfere with your daily activities.

Symptoms of dry eye may include:

  • Stinging, burning, or scratching sensation
  • Gritty or sandy feeling, as if something is in the eye
  • Stringy mucus in or around the eyes
  • Blurred vision
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Difficulty wearing contact lenses
  • Eye fatigue
  • Intermittent excessive tearing

If you are experiencing persistent symptoms of dry eye, it is important to make an appointment for a comprehensive eye exam. During this visit, our eye doctor will check your symptoms, review your overall health history and discuss which medications you are taking that may be contributing to this condition. We will also examine your eyelids, evaluate your blink dynamics and inspect the cornea of your eyes. As part of this evaluation, we will look for any environmental factors that may be putting you at risk for dry eye. Diagnostic tests to measure the quantity and quality of your tears will be performed as needed.

The treatment our office prescribes for your dry eye will be determined by the severity of your symptoms and if any underlying conditions are present. The overall objective of the treatment plan is to restore a sufficient amount of tears to relieve your eye discomfort, minimize the dryness, and protect the health of your eyes. While artificial tears and soothing ointments work well in many situations, other approaches may be advised for more advanced or unresponsive cases of dry eye. Additional treatment options may include anti-inflammatory eye drops or tablets, medications to boost tear production, or procedures to conserve tears and prevent them from draining away. Sometimes special lenses or goggles are recommended to keep the moisture in your eyes.
